Select and initiate purchases of tooling for various machinery. Assist and advise Manufacturing Engineering on machine functions and their capabilities. Participate in the design, material procurement, and construction of fixtures or tooling for all manufacturing processes.
Position Summary : * Provides technical direction in the sharpening and repairing of various tooling and fixtures. * Initiates the procurement of replacement tooling when existing is not repairable, or beyond its useful life. * Collaborates in the design and manufacturing of fixtures and various in-plant tooling. * Establishes stock numbers for preventative maintenance backup components. * Participates in the development of spare parts lists for new equipment. * Evaluates and establishes stock numbers for small hand and power tools used in manufacturing plant-wide. * Installs some replacement tooling and adjusts alignment of same. * Performs other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Engineering Manager. * Capable of handling extended periods of standing and walking. * Capable of handling extended periods of sitting and utilizing CRT to perform job functions. * Capable of handling extended periods of sitting and talking with suppliers on the telephone or in person. * Capable of handling internal and external customer complaints in an effective manner. * Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. * Capable of working long hours under stressful conditions, closely and effectively with people of all levels of the organization to produce necessary results. * Work on Continuous Quality Improvement and support all Thermo Fisher PPI projects. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Must have a good working knowledge of various sheet metal and assembly manufacturing processes, along with the ability to understand and utilize precision measuring devices. Must understand present machining capabilities and incorporate these capabilities in proposed fixture and tooling design. Apply Your Resume
